In-situ Synthesis, Characterization and Application of Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 Nanoparticles Assisted with Green Laser to Kill S. enterica in Water

All over the world S. enterica is found in poikilothermic, endothermic animals, environment and in drinkable water. This family belongs to the class of pathogen that is the major reason behind the gastric illnesses such as typhoid fever and food poisoning. The novel nanomaterials with potential anti-microbial activity and lesser harmfulness are gaining attention now a days. In the present research work Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized using coprecipitation method assisted with laser ablation technique to control the fine spinel structure of the material. The structural characterization of the synthesized nanomaterial was done by X-ray diffraction technique. The mean size of the nanoparticle was calculated using Scherrer’s formula and was found to be ∼13 nm. The morphology and the formation of nanoparticles were evinced by scanning electron microscopy. For the elemental analysis EDX was performed. The Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 was found to be an effective anti-microbial nanomaterial and prevent the growth of S. enterica. A 10μg of Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanomaterial dissolved in 1mL of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) showed outstanding 94.13 ± 1.24 % inhibition activity against growth of S. enterica.
